Chiroptics

Circular Dichroism

  • How can one obtain Molar differential extinction coefficient?

From the CD spectrometer you can obtain degrees or milli degrees.
molar differential extinction coefficient = milli degrees / (32980 × c × l)
where c is the molar concentration of the sample and l is path length in cm.

  • How can one obtain the g-factor?

 g-factor = molar differential extinction coefficient / extinction coefficient = milli degrees / (32980 × A)
where A is the absorption.
